Nipsey Hussle Arrested, But For What?

Nipsey-Hussle

The Hip-Hop Police are seemingly going hard against rappers and have claimed their latest in Nipsey Hussle.

However, the West Coast G has denied any wrongdoing and a rep says he was treated unjust.

Nipsey was arrested on August 29 in Los Angeles after the raid of a clothing store called Slauson Avenue Clothing.

A probation complaint search was called in and the police allegedly went to the location to answer the complaint. Nipsey was booked on obstructing a peace officer and was unable to perform at the Jay-Z multi-city festival Made In America.

Some have speculated that the arrest was a malicious act against the rapper, but there has been no evidence to support such a notion.

The rapper had something to say via Twitter, claiming “LAPD raiding our flagship clothing store…searching it for hours to find nothing.”

EXCLUSIVE: Jim Jones Explains Why Eminem Isn’t In His Top 5, Craziest Fan Moment + MORE (VIDEO)

Screen Shot 2014-08-29 at 12.09.30 PM

Lack of sleep can lead to serious health problems…unless you’re a vampire like Jim Jones. Jim Jones spoke EXCLUSIVELY with AllHipHop about how he maintains his health with his lack of sleep, the craziest fan moment and why Eminem is not in his Top 5.

Jones once  remarked that Dipset  “maybe the most influential—besides N.W.A” in Hip Hop ever in a XXL interview. During our interview, he revealed a story of the craziest realization of that fan influence during a show in North Carolina:

I’ve seen a grown man with a Jim Jones tattoo. I forgot, like somewhere in North Carolina or something. On the back of his shoulder and sh*t like that. At a show, I remember that vividly. N*ggas were snapping on me after the show. ‘Yo, that’s mad suspect. N*gga got his name on his body. But, that shows dedications. I’m just glad they’re not typing my name on their body no more.

Back in November 2011, Rick Ross admitted that his two seizures he sustained that year were due to sleep deprivation. When asked if his Vamp Life’s lack of sleep mantra could be detrimental to his health, Jones stated “Rick Ross is also heavy, my brother. I’m in shape, brother. I got to the gym. I live my life different.”

Jones is not simply a hustler but also a student of the game and when asked about his Top 5 dead or alive named a few of his Dipset partners as well as Drake. When asked why he would place Drake in such an illustrious category over artists such as Eminem, Jones explained how Eminem could never enter his Top 5:

I wouldn’t put Eminem in my category because he’s wicked with the rhymes but my music got to reflect on the lifestyle I live. Eminem is by far one fo the greatest MC’s, because he’s an artist, but his music don’t actually put me like I’m feeling like I want to go on the block and sell drugs. It’s a different type of sh*t. When I look at his music it’s like ‘damn, this n*gga is out of control’. I look at him as a real artist and try to dissect what he’s saying.

Jim Jones is releasing We Own The Night II on September 5th.

breakfast-club-trinidad-james_THEGAMUTT

Gold backs up the American dollar but it could only back up Trinidad James for so long before Def Jam dropped him. Trinidad James explains why he did not need Def Jam when he signed with the label in 2012 and his future plans.

On August 2nd, Trinidad James announced that his two year tenure at Def Jam Records and released a song entitled “Doin’ Me”. On the song he raps “I did it everybody else way, I’m back to doin’ me” hinting at giving up control of his career during his stint with Def Jam. In a recent interview with MTV, James

I feel like we just had a difference of creative ideas. And for me personally, I know that I am somewhat of a person that’s just gonna do it their own way… For me personally I don’t think I needed a major at the point of time in my career that I was at.

One of the first steps in regaining his popularity as a newly independent artist is getting the fans back. According to James, his unreleased Def Jam debut album was set to help him get a better grasp of his core fanbase:

I wanted to take the people who care on a musical journey. So it’s almost like, ‘Hey if you’re a real true Trinidad James fan raise your hand so that we could put you on a separate island,’ so we’ll know what my actual core following is.

DJ Clark Kent Talks Stealing His 1st Turntables During 1977 New York City Blackout + MORE

dj-clark-kent-explains-nike-sportswear-1thology-0

On July 13th and 14th of 1977, most of  New York City was without light, but DJ Clark Kent still had his thirst for DJ’ing. In his recent interview on Juan Epstein podcast, the legendary producer/DJ/sneakerhead, Clark Kent explained how the 1977 blackout started his DJ’ing career.

Over 3,800 people were arrested and $1 billion in damages were incurred in the two day blackout due to looting and arson. Brooklyn was one of the areas in New York City hit the hardest and according to Clark Kent, he was one of the lucky not arrested:

In 1977 when the blackout happened, I was a block away from Music Factory. Enough years have gone so statute of limitations means I can tell this story and not go to jail. I stole my first turntables out of that store. It was already busted into. The crazy part is, nobody was taking THAT. It was this big wooden..what would look like a coffin to somebody else was really just this big thing that held a turntable and a mixer. It was on wheels, so it was a DJ’s dream.

The now closed Music Factory record store was where young Clark Kent pilfered his first DJ equipment.

Police Say Suge Knight Was Target Of Shooting; Source Says Streets Will Take Care Of Shooter

Suge_Knight

There had been conflicting reports on whether Suge Knight was the extended target of the shooting that took place at a Chris Brown hosted Pre-VMA party over the weekend, but police have now confirmed that Knight was in fact the person the gunman was aiming at.

Radar Online is reporting a representative of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department has confirmed it appears Knight was the target and not Chris Brown.

Rumors began circulating that Brown may have been the person intended to be hit that night. Even Comedian Katt Williams, who says he was at the scene, suggested the gunshots were actually aimed at someone else and Knight was saving another person’s life.

Suge has reportedly refused to cooperate with authorities investigating the shooting. A source with Radar is also telling the site that the former Death Row Records head is leaving it to people not associated with the police to handle the situation.

“Suge is confident that the gunman will be dealt with on the street, as these matters usually are,” said the source. “Given that it’s gang related, there are serious expectations of a retaliation hit. The longer cops go without making an arrest, the more likely it is that the gunman won’t be caught.”

Knight was shot six times at West Hollywood’s 10AK Club. He is currently in intensive care at Cedars Sinai Hospital, and his room is said to be under police protection.

Andre 3000 Talks Depression, Retiring Next Year, Being Bummed At Coachella + MORE

Andre 3000

You miss Andre 3000? It may be time to let go of that longing as well as him. In a recent interview, the reclusive Outkast member explains how the upcoming Jimi Hendrix film saved him from depression, retiring at 40 and more.

There has not been much news of Andre 3000’s personal life since Outkast stopped releasing music following 2008’s Idlewild soundtrack. Both of Andre’s parents died nine months apart, with his mother Sharon Benjamin-Hod passing away one day after his 38th birthday. In his interview with The New York Times, Andre explains how his reclusive behavior fostered a level of depression that his acting in the upcoming Jimi Hendrix film helped with:

Honestly, I needed it in my life, too. Hendrix kind of saved me. I was in a not-so-great space, just in a dark place every day. I needed something to focus on to get me out of my depression and rut. Sometimes, when you’re alone, you can let yourself go. I knew if I got on a train with a lot of different people, then I couldn’t let them down.

Jay Z, Eminem, Nas and numerous other MC’s are still releasing music into their 40’s. While Andre says he still loves music, the 39 year old MC has no intentions of rapping past 40:

I remember, at like 25, saying, ‘I don’t want to be a 40-year-old rapper.’ I’m 39 now, and I’m still standing by that. I’m such a fan that I don’t want to infiltrate it with old blood.

Outkast’s first concert in years was at this year’s Coachella Music Festival, where onlookers noticed Andre 3000’s seemingly aloof performance. The suspicions were correct as Andre explains that he was not fully invested in the performance:

My head wasn’t there. I kind of fluffed through rehearsals. A few hours before the Coachella show, I get a message that Prince and Paul McCartney are going to be there. My spirit is not right, and idols are standing side-stage, so as the show started, I’m bummed. This is horrible. In my mind I was already gone to my hotel room halfway through.

50 Cent Writes Misspelled Love Letter To T.I.’s Wife From Floyd Mayweather Jr + MORE

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather jr.

(AllHipHop News) At this point, TV networks are missing out on a 50 Cent comedy TV show. Earlier today (August 27th) 50 Cent continued his social media war with his “brother” Floyd Mayweather Jr by writing a highly misspelled love letter to Tameka “Tiny” Harris from Floyd Mayweather Jr.

The feud between Mayweather Jr and 50 Cent seemed to die down after the G-Unit general admitted during an interview with Angie Martinez that Mayweather Jr could read and he does not want to hurt him. Hours later, 50 Cent released a picture on his personal Instagram of a misspelled love letter to T.I.’s wife:

The caption of the Instagram photograph stated that Mayweather Jr has been neglecting his family members and specificially names his sisters Fannie Orr and Deltricia Tawanna Howard. Later in the caption, 50 Cent issues a fighting challenge to Mayweather Jr by writing “If you want to fight I’ll be in Vegas next”:

@floydmayweather I love you like a brother. Call fanny, and tawana your sister’s love your crazy ass.check on Devon you are forgetting the people who matter boy. If you want to fight I’ll be in Vegas nextweek.#SMSaudio

Bobby Schmurda: I’m Doing Music Until I Die Like Michael Jackson

wpid-img_20140826_180844.jpg

(AllHipHop News) Dr. Conrad Murray may have a new client in the future. In a recent interview, the 20 year old burgeoning rap star, Bobby Schmurda discussed his deal with Epic Records, aiming to “go out like Michael Jackson” and more.

Bobby Schmurda has admitted in past interviews that he used to sell drugs and famously raps that he’s “been selling crack since the fifth grade” on his single “Hot N*gga”. In his interview with Billboard, Schmurda reveals that he has left the drug selling game and his Michael Jackson aspirations:

This is the new trap, and we’re going trap till the wheels fall off, then keep going. I’m doing this till I die — I’m going out like Michael Jackson.

He’s already following in Jackson’s shoes by signing to Epic Records, which released the posthumous Michael Jackson album Xscape on May 13th. While details of his signing are rumored to include upwards of $2 million advance, Epic Records’ Executive Vice President of Urban A&R Sha Money says, no price was too high to sign Schmurda:

There’s no such thing as overpaying a young black man. This is an opportunity when someone can either take the money and go away, or take it and blow up.

Schmurda is preparing to release a
mixtape/EP Schmurda She Wrote later this year along with a debut album next year.

50 Cent Says Once Floyd Mayweather Jr Is Done Boxing, “He’s Done Period” + MORE

50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather

50 Cent has publicly mocked Floyd Mayweather Jr’s reading ability and his relationship problems in the past week, but according to him it’s all love. In a recent interview, 50 Cent explains why he makes fun of Floyd Maywewather Jr and how Mayweather Jr’s finances could potentially deplete soon.

During a recent interview with M Live, Mayweather Jr stated that unlike Hip Hop artists, “every home that I have is paid for, every car that I have is paid for, and I am a hundred-million-dollar man.” 50 Cent spoke with XXL recently and detailed howhe “loves” Mayweather Jr and has tried to help the boxing star with his finances:

I don’t hate him, I love him, actually. Entering the sport of boxing is a reflection of that relationship. He doesn’t make any money away from the sport of boxing. That tells you when he’s done fighting, he’s done period. I just try to encourage him to do things away from the sport.

50 Cent later remarks Mayweather Jr does not have a “sustainabel lifestyle” and “I’ll have to help him when it gets too tough.” During the BET Awards weekend in late June, Mayweather Jr gifted his girlfriend  Doralie Medina with over $70,000 in jewelry and clothing, two weeks after gifting her with a $300,000 Rolls Royce.

In February 2013, Mayweather Jr. signed a six-fight deal with Showtime worth $200 million. Mayweather Jr was 2013’s highest paid athlete after accumulating $105 million.

Angela Bassett: Whitney Houston Biopic “Controversy Can Be Good”

Whitney-Bobby

If Sex sells then controversy is the machine that manufactures it. Last night (August 25th) on the red carpet of the 2014 Emmys during NBC’s pre-show Angela Bassett explains how directing the Whitney Houston biopic has been and how “controversy can be good.”

Back in May, Bassett was announced as the director for the upcoming Lifetime biopic of Whitney Houston’s life. A month later Houston’s mother Cissy Houston released a statement and expressed that “no one connected with this movie knew Whitney or anything about her relationship with Bobby [Brown].” Bassett admits the difficulty in directing her first movie last night on the red carpet:

It felt like it was flowing from the beginning. Except me with the learning curve, you know. Coming from one side of the camera to the other

In response to the displeasure from members of the Houston family on the biopic’s production, Bassett stated “controversy can be good. It can pique your interest,”

There is no set release date or title for the upcoming Lifetime biopic on Whitney Houston

CNN Releases Alleged Audio Of Michael Brown Being Shot

MichaelBrown

CNN is reporting to have an alleged audio recording of the moments Ferguson, Missouri resident Michael Brown was shot and killed by police officer Darren Wilson.

The news outlet says the FBI has questioned the man who claims to have recorded the incident.

An independent autopsy by Brown’s family suggested the 18-year-old was shot at a minimum of 6 times, but there are close to 11 shots on the audio recording. Several rapid fire shots can be heard and then there is a pause before more gunshots ring out.

“I was very concerned about that pause … because it’s not just the number of gunshots, it’s how they’re fired,” said Lopa Blumenthal, the attorney of the man that presented the recording. “And that has a huge relevance on how this case might finally end up.”

Jeezy Arrested For Assault Rifle Found On Tour Bus, $1 Million Bail

tab_youngJeezy0316

Jeezy’s under the law more than any other influence these days. Earlier today (August 25th) reports surfaced that Jeezy and a few of his affiliates were arrested in connection to gun possession after Jeezy’s tour bus was searched.

Last night, AllHipHop broke the story that police intervention prevented the GA-bred rapper from making a tour stop in Irvine, California.

EXCLUSIVE: Jeezy Unable To Perform After Police Stop Bus On “Under The Influence Tour”

The Irvine Police Department obtained a search warrant to search Jeezy’s tour bus yesterday (August 24th) during their criminal investigation in connection to a man who was murdered backstage at the Under The Influence tour last Friday (August 22nd). D’angelo Sings About Police Brutality, SZA Dazzles + More At Afropunk Day 2 (VIDEO)

Screenshot 2014-08-25 11.35.21

(AllHipHop Editorial) Yesterday (August 24th), the Afropunk Festival closed out its 10th anniversary in a manner befitting a concert historically known for a diverse musical display:Four stages of non-stop music.  Commodore Berry Park was engulfed in the Afropunk experience, with vendors such as Nubian Heritage lined in the back of the main Green Stage while performers such as Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings on Day 1.

Near the end of Cakes Da Killa’s performance on the Red Stage, the 360 degree musical experience of Afropunk appeared to sprout organic surprises such as Brooklyn United Marching Band began a seemingly impromptu performance:

SZA, in nothing more than her signature smile and a Cheech & Chong T-shirt swayed around the stage while crooning songs from her EP. The sheepish and stationary movements of her performance at Rough Trade last month began to give way to more energetic movements to the vibrating bounce of “Hiijack” and the stuttering drums of “Babylon”.

Afropunk’s four stage design was  a manifestation of the “music everywhere, anytime” movement that has grown in prevalence with the advent of mobile music streaming. However, that sheer volume of choice becomes overwhelming once the machine is delayed. Once Cakes Da Killa and SZA’s back-to-back performances were delayed by over 20 minutes, The Internet’s originally scheduled 6:15 P.M. performance was pushed back until fans had to choose between 20 year veteran Meshell Ndegeocello on the main Green Stage and the upstart new age funk band.

This was not as easy to mask when 8:30 P.M. arrived and the collective crowds of the Gold, Black and Red Stage(along with the food truck ) converged on the Green Stage lawn to witness D’angelo. The reclusive genius, whom performed at Brooklyn Bowl with ?uestlove last year, did not emerge until an hour afterwards and after roughly 30 minutes was thanking a dejected and withering crowd for coming out.

With ?uestlove on drums, D’angelo’s time was used expertly with his first song being a stirring rendition of Bob Marley’s “Burning & Looting” which speaks on police brutality. D’angelo’s short performance was an emblem of the past 14 years of his career: Sudden, spectacular and

Floyd Mayweather Makes An Appearance At Ball Up Streetball Event In Vegas

Mayweather

It had been a trying week for Floyd Mayweather. The boxing champion was ridiculed online by 50 Cent and on the radio by Charlamagne Tha God over allegations that he had trouble reading. EXCLUSIVE: Jeezy Unable To Perform After Police Stop Bus On “Under The Influence Tour”

jeezy1

Jeezy had a run in with police that prevented him from performing at a tour date along the “Under The Influence of Music” tour, according to sources with AllHipHop.

The situation unfurled at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater Irvine in Irvine, CA, where Jeezy was unable to hit the stage.

Source say Jeezy never left his tour bus, much less get on stage to perform for thousands of fans.

Authorities have not released their motivation for the stoppage, but insiders have indicated that it may be related to a situation on Friday that left a man shot to death. A 38-year-old man was shot backstage from a person dressed in all black with a red hat, according to witnesses.

Sources with AllHipHop have stated that the man was a promoter that was also promoting Jeezy’s after party that evening in Mountain View, CA.

Jeezy’s bus was searched, but he did not go with police immediately. At press time, the Georgia native was not charged with any crime.

The Under The Influence Tour includes stars like Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla $ign, Rich Homie Quan, Sage the Gemini, Iamsu!, Mack Wilds, and DJ Drama.

Jeezy’s new album, Seen It All, is slated for release on September 2.

At press time, there were no representatives for Jeezy available for comment.

50 cent

Anyone that thought 50 Cent would not have a comeback for Floyd Mayweather’s recent stunt move on Twitter clearly has not been following the Hip Hop mogul’s career.

The G-Unit leader is not one to let things go very easily, so 50 jumped back on Instagram to respond to the boxing champion’s “Read this $72,276,000.00. God Bless” tweet.

“You put up a check? That must be for a blogger. N***a, you know I got money,” said 50 in a video post. “Look b***h, the check say Golden Boy. That mean you work for Oscar [De La Hoya] b***h?”

Fiddy also added several pictures of Mayweather that make fun of his alleged difficulty with reading. He then posted a meme that reads, “I don’t hold grudges. I remember facts.”

G-Unit Talks Nicki Minaj Being In “The N*gga Section”, Bobby Schmurda’s “Hot N*gga” + MORE

G-Unit-Reuniting-2014

The only thing 50 Cent and G-Unit have more of than money are opinions. During an upcoming G-Unit Reunion special on SiriusXM, the Unit explains Nicki Minaj’s return to urban radio, Bobby Schmurda’s “Hot N*gga” and more.

One of the most surprising transformations of this year is Nicki Minaj from multi-colored wigs to her natural look. According to 50 Cent, Nicki’s recent remixes on street singles such as “Chiraq”, “No Flex Zone” and her own single “Looking A*s N*gga” are a result of her being placed in the “ni*ga section”:

It’s going to change. They going to put you back in the ‘ni*ga section’. Trust me, you can be hot as a motherf*cker and then eventually they’ll put you back and you’ll find yourself at Urban Radio fighting your way into Top 20 crossover radio. You see it over and over. You see Nicki [Minaj] come from Barbie to being like ‘you a hitta a*s n*gga, n*gga, n*gga.’

Bobby Schmurda’s breakout single “Hot N*gga” gained an extra source of notoriety when it was revealed that the beat used for the song was originally Lloyd Banks’ “Jackpot” While Banks says he is ok with the success of “Hot N*gga” because “I’m secure in where I’m at.” 50 Cent had a different take on Schmurda’s success, comparing him to the recently independent Trinidad James:

I think he needs work. The artist needs work. It’s like the Trinidad James thing. When a guy doesn’t actually have song structure. [Banks-It's not like he knew it was going to happen.] Nah, he just did the dance. Then when I looked at it, it felt like Diddy. It felt like [Micheal Jackson] a little bit in that “Remember The Time” video.

G-Unit’s upcoming EP does not have a release date as of yet.

Report: Mariah Carey Barred Nick Cannon From Talking About Divorce

NickMariah

A long running joke about the Nick Cannon/Mariah Carey six year marriage was that Mariah wore the pants in the relationship. Even as the union between the two entertainment stars appears to be collapsing, it looks as if MC is still in charge.

According to TMZ, Mariah and Nick have signed a confidentiality agreement as part of their pending divorce, but reportedly Cannon is the only one who is not allowed to speak about the split.

Apparently, Nick can talk about how the two are now living separately, but he cannot talk about the actual divorce or face “severe financial penalties.” Mariah is allegedly open to announce the divorce on her terms.

Recently, Nick did publicly confirm the couple has been estranged for a while. He told The Insider they are going through a “rough patch” and have been living in separate homes for months.

Nick Cannon Says “There Is Trouble In Paradise” With Marriage To Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

Starting to look like Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s marriage may be more Out than Wild. Earlier today (August 21st) Nick Cannon responded to reports that he and his wife Mariah Carey were living separately.

Cannon spoke with Entertainment Weekely’s The Insider stating “There is trouble in paradise…we have been living in separate houses for a few months.” This seemingly confirms reports that the pair have been separated since June and are in the midst of an impending divorce.

An Us Weekly source revealed that Cannon has been more despondent on the set of America’s Got Talent and “he never talks about Mariah, and she has never been to set in all the seasons he has hosted.”

The couple have two children, Moroccan and Monroe, born in 2011.
