Dame Dash Discusses Arrest Warrant Issued For Unpaid Child Support (VIDEO)

Reports began to circulate that an arrest warrant has been issued for Hip Hop businessman Dame Dash. After the 43-year-old Harlem native failed to show up to court, a New York judge ordered Dash to pay $340,000 in child support to his ex-wife Rachel Roy or face going to jail.

Dame is now responding to the arrest warrant. The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records spoke with Boyce Watkins about the matter.

“I don’t know what’s really going on, but like I told you, they started cheating,” said Dash. “The dude Donnell Suares I guess got a warrant, because I’m in L.A. and I never got the dates or times to come back to the court. I never got served anything.”

Suares is the attorney representing the mother of Dash’s children. During his Watkins interview, Dame referred to the lawyer as “crooked” and a “piece of dog sh*t” that is attempting to separate his family for money.

This is not the first time Dame has expressed his frustration with Suares. In February, Dame called Suares  a “coward” and a “culture vulture” on Instagram. Suares issued a statement to AllHipHop.com at the time.

“I simply represent people who are seeking support for their children and are having difficulty collecting child support from financially delinquent parents,” Suares relayed to AllHipHop.com at the time. “It is my privilege to assist this brave woman in her fight to support her children. Despite these attacks, I will continue to help those in need of representation when they need it most.”

Trinidad James Is Prepping A Photography Book, ‘Trips To Trinidad’

Trinidad James has been taking things slow ever since he was dropped from Def Jam and claimed that he was broke two years after signing with them. He has decided to branch out from hip-hop and explore another venture. The former Def Jam signee has announced that he is releasing a photography book, Trips To Trinidad.

“This book is basically a coffee table piece showing you the culture of Trinidad from a raw and ghetto perspective,” the 27-year-old told XXL. “The book is all photography work and it took about two weeks to put together. I intend on never stopping when it comes to making books. Just wanna keep getting even more creative with them.”

The book bares the same name as his recent four track EP, which was released Apr. 18th.

Hip Hop Stars & Actors From “The Wire” Actors React To Riots In Baltimore

Portions of the city of Baltimore erupted in violence yesterday (April 27) as mostly high school students clashed with police in the streets. Vehicles were damaged, stores were looted, a CVS was set on fire, and several law enforcement officers were reportedly injured.

The violent outcry came after days of peaceful protests in the name of Freddie Gray. The 25-year-old man died of a spinal cord injury while in police custody. He sustained the injury after being taken into a police van. Apparently, his detention was because he looked at an officer and then ran away.

The violence also appears to be a reaction to years worth of mistreatment against the African-American community at the hands of the Baltimore Police Department. Residents have received millions of dollars from lawsuits against the BPD for excessive force including a jury awarding $39 million to Jeffrey Alston in 2004. Alston was paralyzed from the neck down after a ride in a police van.

Members of the Hip Hop community are now sharing their thoughts on the ordeal unfolding in Baltimore. Former actors from the The Wire (which was set in Baltimore) also addressed the situation. See what some stars had to say on Twitter and Instagram below.

Waka Says Gucci Beef Is Over

Waka Flocka and Gucci Mane used to be the best of friends, but that relationship soured into a cruel case of beef.

Wake says all of that is behind them, but with a catch.

“We’re always in a good place. I’d just say – business point of view, it’ll never happen. Just because a snake’s frozen right now, when it thaws out don’t mean it ain’t gonna bite you. … It’s under the rug, man. F*ck it. It is what it is,” he told MTV News.

Jay Z Alleges Other Companies Are Conducting A “Smear Campaign” Against Tidal + Addresses Elitist Perception Of The Service

The high-profile, artist-owned streaming platform known as Tidal re-launched just a month ago, but the service has already faced negative media reports about its slow start and criticism for its $20 hi-fi premium price.

Tidal has attracted new users thanks in part to its exclusive content such as new videos from Beyoncé and Rihanna and access to live streams of events like J. Cole’s upcoming concert and Throne Boxing’s “Ward vs Smith.” However, after ranking at #78 on Apple’s App Store two weeks ago, the Tidal application dropped out of the top 750 last week.

In an attempt to right the ship for his new venture, the company’s part owner/public face Jay Z sent out a series of tweets on Sunday addressing the public perception issues surrounding his new venture. The Hip Hop mogul even contends other companies have conducted a “smear campaign” against Tidal. He also lays out the platform’s support of independent artists.

50 Cent Blasts “Angry Black B*tches” For Asking About His Son Marquise Jackson

It is well documented Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and his eldest child Marquise Jackson do not have a close father-son relationship. There was the complaints from Marquise’s mother that 50 had not seen his son in years, and the younger Jackson was seen pictured with his dad’s rival Slowbucks on Instagram.

In a recent interview with Angie Martinez, 50 stated, “I don’t speak to [Marquise]. With him that situation is so complex that I think over time [Marquise’s mother] has instilled her entitlement… My grandfather taught me your enemies’ enemy is your friend… You may not necessarily have an altercation with that person, but they’ll side with someone they think has an altercation with you on the common ground of disliking you.”

50 recently uploaded his own photo with his youngest son to IG. The harmless post eventually led to the G-Unit leader bashing black women. The caption for Fiddy’s pic read, “My little guy is getting big so fast. I feel like I’m gonna blink and he’s gonna pull off in one of my cars. Lol.”

Another user then commented, “What about your first born?” 50 responded by writing, “Why only angry Black b*tches got something to say about my other son he grown. What you want to give him some p*ssy? Google him.”

DJ Premier Tapped To Score 1990’s Set Movie “The Breaks” For VH1

Hip Hop producer DJ Premier is already performing as one half of PRhyme with Royce Da 5’9″, creating his own live band, and finalizing his album Last Session @320. The founding member of Gang Starr can now add score a television movie to his to-do list.

Premier has been selected to compose the score and serve as executive music producer of the upcoming VH1 original movie The Breaks. Seith Mann (The Wire, The Walking Dead) is writing and directing the motion picture inspired by journalist Dan Charnas’ The Big Payback.

The 2011 book provides a history of the Hip Hop business from the 1970’s to the mid 2000’s. The Big Payback covered the rise of Hip Hop moguls such as Jay Z, Sean “Diddy” Combs” and Russell Simmons.

The Breaks will center around three friends’ journey to break into the music industry in 1990. Nikki Jones is a recent graduate pursuing her dream of becoming a record executive. David Aaron is Nikki’s boyfriend that also happens to be the son of a legendary music producer. DeeVee is an aspiring producer searching for the next big rapper.

Premier’s history of working with early 90’s emcees Guru, Lord Finesse, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, and many others gives him a unique firsthand perspective on the sounds from the era.

Mann is also serving as executive producer for The Breaks. Charnas is credited as executive producer and co-writer for the script’s story. VH1 plans to start principal photography in June with a premiere date set for Fall 2015.

Love & Hip-Hop Star Mendeecees Is Going To Jail, Pleads Guilty To Drug Charges

Today is a low spot in the lives of Love & Hip-Hop star Mendeecees Harris and fiancee Yandy Smith.

The reality TV star found his future in a guilty plea where he will serve between 5-40 years for drugs – heroin and cocaine. He will also have to pay a fine of $5 million for running a drug ring that operated in upstate New York. He will be free until sentencing in August.

Yandy and Mendeecees will get married live on a special episode of “Love & Hip-Hop” next month.

He will have to give all of his LAHH paychecks to to the state in the form of restitution for his crimes.

Tracee Ellis Ross Wants Kanye West To Guest Star On ‘Black-ish’

Black-ish star Tracee Ellis Ross has some big features in mind for the show’s second season. During a panel to celebrate the show’s first season, Ross said she would love if Kanye West guest starred on an episode and shook up her to Dre, played by Anthony Anderson, marriage a bit.

“I think he should be a doctor working with my character, Rainbow,” Ross told The Hollywood Reporter. “Dre gets worried Rainbow is going to have an affair with him, but Rainbow has no interest.”

The two have been longtime friends and Ross appeared in his visuals for “Touch the Sky” and “Kanye’s Workout Plan.”

While Ross wants West, the show’s creator Kenya Barris has Justin Bieber in mind.

“For some reason I feel like Bieber would be a great person to bring into Zoey’s life,” Barris said. “He would be the kid a father wouldn’t necessarily want their daughter to date. I’ve seen some funny comedic stuff he’s done.”

Dr. Dre Wins Lawsuit Against Death Row Records Over ‘The Chronic’

Dr. Dre has been battling Death Row Records over the past year over unpaid funds from the online sales of The Chronic and he has come out victorious.

According to Billboard, U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder ruled that Dr. Dre is entitled to be paid more royalities from the digital sales of his 1992 debut album than what he has been getting. The album can still be sold digitally, but Dre will now receive 100 percent of the monies from digital sales.

“For years, Death Row Records forgot about Dre when they continued to distribute his music digitally and combined his hits with weaker Death Row tracks in an attempt to elevate the stature of their other artists,” Dre’s lawyer Howard King wrote in a statement. “We are gratified that the federal court has unambiguously declared that Death Row has no right to engage in such tactics, and must hold all proceeds from these illicit distributions in trust for our client.”

The Aftermath CEO filed the lawsuit last year against WIDEawake/Death Row for improperly selling The Chronic online and using his music on compilations without his permission. Now they can only sell the album in the format in was in before he left the label in 1996, which is cassette, CD, 8-track and vinyl.

As Dr. Dre celebrates this win, Death Row Records’ former CEO Suge Knight sits in jail facing murder, attempted murder and hit-and-run charges.

Two Members Of Migos Released From Jail Following Drug Arrest

Members of the Atlanta rap group Migos were arrested over the weekend after police allegedly discovered drugs and firearms in their vans. According to Migos’ verified Twitter and Instagram accounts, Quavo and Takeoff are currently free.

Migos were taken into custody in Statesboro, Georgia. The trio was scheduled to perform at Georgia Southern University’s 2015 Spring concert before they are other members of their entourage were arrested.

According to reports, Takeoff and Quavo respective bonds were set at $10,000. Third member Offset remains in custody.

Dame Dash Loses Custody Of Kids

Dame Dash were in a proverbial custody war with his ex-Rachel Roy, but the former Roc-A-Fella mogul has taken a major hit.

He has lost custody of his children.

Dash apparently skipped out on a court date and Roy was awarded sole custody of their kids 15-year-old Ava and 6-year-old Tallulah. Dame was seeking full custody, as was Roy.

The pair had publicly being throwing darts at each other, both saying the other was an unfit parent.

Dame will now get supervised visitation.

Roy was also awarded a 3-year restraining order against her ex, TMZ reports.

Migos Caught With Guns & Drugs On Georgia Southern University Campus.

Last night, Migos were caught on the campus of Georgia Southern University with a loaded gun and drugs. The TMZ video below shows two members of the Atlanta group, Quavo and Offset, being arrested backstage of the show after their performance was stopped by campus police. Both Quavo and Offset are now charged with multiple drug and weapon felonies.

A Brooklyn Shooting Leaves One Killed Another Injured

Two Brooklyn teens were shot yesterday, leaving one dead and another injured. According to Complex, 16 year-old Dontea Bascom and his 13 year-old cousin Michael Parnell were shot on a bench in Marcy Projects last night around 7pm. Witnesses heard four to five shots, before seeing one teen laying on the the ground. Bascom was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital after taking a shot in the groin, however, Parnell is expected to survive.

While in London, A$AP Rocky lost his cool. Apparently, a man threw things at Rocky’s car and he didn’t hesitate to confront him. In the video, Flacko is seen cursing the man out and asking him “Should I snuff you right now?” The Harlemnite didn’t throw any jabs though and walked away before he got violent.

RZA Talks 88 Year Ban On Wu-Tang Album, Current Favorite Artists, Alleged Divorce Court Groupie & More

Wu-Tang Clan member RZA connected with the people yesterday by doing an Ask Me Anything session with Reddit users. Bobby Digital was asked about various topics related to the Wu including the thought process behind blocking commercial use of the group’s one-of-a-kind Once Upon A Time In Shaolin album.

RZA also answered questions about the woman that was accused of having sex with the entire Wu-Tang Clan on a recent episode of Divorce Court. His AMA included the music artist/filmmaker discussing some of his personal favorites in music and movies as well.

My favorite at the moment is Kendrick Lamar. I’ve been listening to a lot of Drake, Kanye, Big Sean, as far as hip-hop is concerned. But I also spend a lot of time listening to the Arctic Monkeys.

Who’s your favorite non-Wu artist to work with?

In recent times, I had a lot of fun working with the Black Keys.

If you could have ANY superpower, what would it be and why?

I always thought I’d be something like the Silver Surfer, who’s able to use cosmic energy.

And then of course, I always considered myself to be similar to Professor X. Someone who’s dared to help mutants develop themselves, to help artists find themselves. If you take a look at Wu-Tang history, you will notice in the development stages that I remained way in the back. This was because, as the abbot, I was using my power to increase the power of the Brothers.

What’s the best worst old Kung Fu movie you’ve ever seen? Like, the ones that are so bad they’re awesome.

8 Strikes of the Wildcat.

It starts off with 3 guys, just interruptin’ a guy for no reason, walking through the woods, saying they want the book. And they pull out 3 live rats, and start rubbing the rats, and the 3 of these guys, do the rat style – and the only way to beat these guys is through the cat style. So they have to learn the cat style, to beat the rat style. But what makes it great is the hero is a female.

It actually inspired a scene in IRON FISTS, that movie.

These days, do you think of Wu Tang as much of a group or a unit as it was? Or do you think of yourself or the others as individual artists that work together?

I still think of Wu-Tang as a family.

Wu-Tang is the slang, the sword style, and Clan means family.

It always changes.

I think right now, I just really am into the song “Miracle.”

Jay Z Releases Video For Blue Ivy Inspired Song “Glory” Exclusively On Tidal

The new streaming service Tidal promised to provide exclusive content only available to users of the platform. Rihanna did it with her video for “American Oxygen.” Beyoncé did it with her video for “Die With You.” And now Jay Z has done it with his video for “Glory.”

The visuals for the Blue Ivy Carter inspired tune were captured during the rehearsal sessions for Jay’s 2-night performance at Carnegie Hall. Proceeds from the 2012 benefit shows in New York City were donated to the Shawn Carter Foundation.

The Tidal video for “Glory” includes the live orchestral rehearsal version of the song. The original Neptunes-produced track was released in January 2012 just two days after the birth of Jay Z and Beyoncé’s daughter.

Blue Ivy’s voice appeared on the track, and the newborn was credited as a guest feature. “Glory” debuted at number 74 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart which made Blue Ivy the youngest person to ever have a song chart on Billboard.

Reports: Meek Mill And Nicki Are Engaged

Meek Mill locked it down with Nicki Minaj, by presenting her with a ring worth a reported $500,000.

Whether the pair are actually engaged remains to be confirmed by the pair but a recent report says they are indeed set to be married.

“Both Meek and Nicki have been spending amazing quality time together lately and have gotten extremely close these past few months,” a source told Eonline. “It may seem like it all is happening very quickly but Nicki and Meek are in this 100. They truly love each other.”

The 15-carat yellow heart ring is a cut diamond mounted in platinum with a double halo of white pavé diamonds, an expert said.

Drake’s OVO Fest Will Not Receive Grant Funding From The Canadian Government

Drake’s OVO Fest will not be getting any funding from the Canadian government for this year’s festivities, Billboard reports.

Blane McPhail, who is the  press secretary to Honorable Michael Coteau, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, told Billboard that OVO Fest didn’t meet the pre-determined criteria in the 2015 Celebrate Ontario Application Guide.

“We would encourage OVO Fest’s organizers to reach out to the ministry and apply again next year,” said McPhail.

Even though Drizzy was denied monies from Celebrate Ontario, the Ontario Music Fund did give $45,000 in provincial funding and got financial backing from other companies as well.

Through Celebrate Ontario 2015, the provincial government has provided funding for 270 events this year, totaling up to $19 million in grants.

The OVO Fest will take place on Aug. 2-Aug. 3rd at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre. The event is reportedly sold out.

Charlamagne Tha God And Tyga Get New Shows On MTV

Charlamagne Tha God is getting a second stab at having his own show,.  The radio personality will host eight episodes of a new MTV show called Uncommon Sense, a half-hour comedy talk show that will also feature a panel of funny folks who will address hot topics on social media, XXL reports. The South Carolina native had his own show once before on MTV 2,  Charlamagne & Friends.

There was talk of Tyga also having his own MTV show but it has now been confirmed. The former Young Money rep will be starring in Kingin’ It With Tyga, which will follow him and his friends and they indulge in their luxury lifestyle while also attempting at stunts that should not be done at home. The first season will have six half-hour episodes. His love life will off limits, according to early reports about the show. Tyga’s BFF Chris Brown has reportedly already shot a scene on the show.

No premiere dates have been revealed.

Drake & Madonna Respond To Public Ridicule Over Coachella Kiss

Drake’s awkward response to being kissed in the mouth by Madonna led to the general consensus that he appeared disgusted, disturbed, or sickened. But Drizzy says that was not the case. The “Energy” rapper took to Instagram to respond to the public’s reaction to his reaction.

“Don’t misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel 100 about that forever. Thank you Madonna,” wrote Drake.

The Pop superstar used her own IG page to offer a veiled reply to the social media firestorm over the onstage kiss. Madonna posted a couple of pictures that included #unapolgeticb*tch. The iconic entertainer also borrowed lines from her single “Human Nature” which was the song she performed at the Coachella Festival before kissing Drake.

“I’m not your b*tch. Don’t hang your sh*t on me. Not then… And not now. Not ever,” stated Madonna.

Beyonce’s Mother Remarries, Jay Z, Beyonce And Solange Attend

Jay Z and Beyonce dipped on the Coachella festival and headed over to see her mother get married in Newport Beach, CA.

Tina Knowles, 61, married actor Richard Lawson, 67, in an intimate ceremony, sources say. The yacht that the nuptials were held on only held about 300 people.

Jay and B brought their doting daughter Blue Ivy as well. Solange and other relatives were in attendance as well.

The Game Accused Of Attacking Man While Serving Legal Papers

The Game is accused of attacking another person.

A process server attempted to serve the Compton emccee at his residence in Calabasas and it didn’t go as expected. The man and another cohort tried to video record the act, which TMZ reports lead to him pushing the photographer to the ground. The photographer has pressed charges against the rapper and called 911. When the police arrived, The Game was reportedly gone from the scene.

The situation originated with a fight at a basketball game where the rapper allegedly punched an off-duty cop in a pick-up game of basketball.

The Game has not commented on the matter at the time of this writing.

J. Cole Finally Gets His College Degree

J. Cole is having a great year so far.

First he goes platinum, and it the first solo artist to do so without a musical feature in decades. Now, he’s also received his college degree.

The rapper told The Village Voice, “I’m gonna send it to my mom.”
St. John’s University presented the North Carolina rapper with the honor in Queens, on April 9. He would have gotten it sooner, but it was withheld due to an overdue library book.

Cole explained to the Voice:

 “I owed money for a library book that I didn’t turn in,” he admitted sheepishly. He has “no clue” what title it was but apparently even one vanishing book cost him his degree. “If you have any outstanding fee, that translates to money. There’s a price associated with it. I never paid. That’s why I don’t have my degree.”

“Tonight, I guess they let me slide,” he laughed. Nearly a decade after the fact, Cole already knows exactly what he’s going to do with his long-awaited piece of paper. “I’m gonna send it to my Mom.”

J. Cole graduated Summa cum laude in 2007 and maintained an impressive G.P.A. of 3.82.

Ebro Curses Out & Threatens Caller During Radio Show (VIDEO)

Ebro Darden was not having any of a caller’s shenanigans during his Hot 97 show. An unidentified man dialed into the station to speak with co-host Laura Stylez, but when the man snapped at Peter Rosenberg, Ebro snapped back.

“I ain’t talking to you n***a. I’m talking to Laura Stylez,” the listener expressed to Rosenberg.

Ebro responded, “Shut the f**k up n***a. Come down here. I’ll slap the s**t out your b***h ass. Don’t f**king call up here with that bullsh*t. You p***y ass n***a. What’s wrong with you? Don’t call up here talking tough. Ain’t nobody scared of you. Come down here n***a. Wassup?”

The caller eventually apologized for being disrespectful. Ebro later addressed his behavior on Twitter.

Spike Lee Reportedly Recruiting Kanye West, Common, & Samuel L. Jackson For “Chiraq” Movie

 In recent years, Chicago has picked up the nickname Chiraq as a result of the high rate of gun violence in the city. Acclaimed director Spike Lee is reportedly now signed on to film a movie for Amazon Studios called Chiraq.

According to The Wrap, Kanye West, Common, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jeremy Piven are being pursued to appear in the forthcoming flick. West, Common, and Piven are all Chicago natives.

Samuel Jackson, who is expected to provide a cameo role in Chiraq, has a long working relationship with Lee. The Brooklyn filmmaker directed Jackson in Do the Right Thing,  Mo’ Better Blues and Jungle Fever. Lee’s last feature film was Da Sweet Blood of Jesus. 

Amazon Studios launched in 2010 as a digital video streaming service. The company’s original television programming includes Alpha House, Hand Of God, and Mozart in the Jungle.

John Singleton Has Been Replaced In Tupac Movie

John Singleton knew Tupac when he was alive, but has now been replaced as director in the feature film effort about the rapper’s lives.

“Devil in a Blue Dress” director Carl Franklin has been tapped to replace Singleton. The show will go on without Singleton and shooting is expected in August of September.

Earlier in the week, Singleton expressed discontent with those helping to create the movie.

“The reason I am not making this picture is because the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur,” he said on Instagram.

“Tupac” was written by Jeremy Haft and Ed Gonzalez.

DMX Gives Sermon In Airport (VIDEO)

Before DMX was accused of robbing a man at a Newark, NJ gas station last weekend, he was recorded preaching to a crowd at an airport.

In the three minute clip, X spoke about his love for God and how everyone is perfect in their own way because they are made in the image of the Lord. At one point he deemed himself a warrior for the Lord and told the crowd “I’ll stomp a n–a out int he name of Jesus because right now God needs warriors!”

J. Cole, Iggy Azalea And More Among Nominees For Billboard Music Awards

The nominees have been announced for this year’s Billboard Music Awards and Iggy Azalea and Sam Smith lead the pack with the most nominations.

The Aussie spitter has 12 and the Grammy award-winning Smith grabbed 13. Iggy is nominated for Top Rap Song, with two songs in the category, Top Female Artist and Top Rap Album, where she will face off against J. Cole, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Eminem. Smith will be up against the likes of Trey Songz, Drake, Pharrell Williams and Chris Brown in categories like Top Male Artist, Top R&B Album and Top Radio Song.

Pharrell scored six nominations while John Legend has seven and Nicki Minaj has four. Bobby Shmurda even snagged a nom for Top Streaming Song for his hit “Hot Boy.”

The ceremony will be hosted by Ludacris and will air live on May 17th at 8.p.m EST on ABC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

DJ Jazzy Jeff Talks Possibly Reuniting With Will Smith

Will Smith has already announced he is working on a new album. The rapper formerly known as The Fresh Prince revealed he connected with Kanye West for the project, but many fans wonder if there is also a full reunion with his longtime collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff in the future.

“We’ve been talking a lot. Our biggest thing has always been time,” Jeff told the Huffington Post. “Whenever he’s ready, I’m ready.”

DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince released several albums including 1988’s He’s the DJ, I’m the Rapper and 1991’s Homebase. The latter LP included the smash hit “Summertime.” Jeff and Smith also worked together on the NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Jazzy Jeff recently participated in the national final of the Red Bull Thre3style DJ competition. He served as a judge along with  Z-Trip and Four Color Zack. San Francisco’s J. Espinosa was crowned the USA National Champion.

“I’m privileged to be apart of the Red Bull Thre3style movement,” said DJ Jazzy Jeff. “Each year, the DJs bring their ‘A-game’ to the Finals and it’s exciting to continue to put new talent on the map for the world to see.”
