T.D. Jakes To Take Legal Action Against Jeezy

Jeezy, New Video, Holy Ghost

T.D. Jakes, the famed preacher, author and film maker, has announced that he plans to take legal action against an unauthorized sample on the remix of “Holy Ghost” from his new album Seen It All.

The exact nature of the legal action has not been determined.
Jakes revealed the move on his Facebook page, stating the following:

SPECIAL NOTICE: The ‘Holy Ghost’ remix by Jeezy featuring Kendrick Lamar was produced without the knowledge or consent of T.D. Jakes, TDJ Enterprises, Dexterity Music or its associated companies. We are taking the necessary legal actions to stop the unauthorized use of T.D. Jakes’ intellectual property.

The sample stems from a speech from Jakes called “Don’t Let The Chatter Stop You.”
In it, Jakes says, “To tell myself, I’m still on fire. I’m under attack, but I’m still on fire. I got some chatter, but I’m still on fire. I got some threat, but I’m still on fire. I got some liabilities, but I’m still on fire. If it’s not amazing that I’m on fire. I’ve been to hell and back, but I’m still on fire.”

The “Holy Ghost” remix features Kendrick Lamar.

EXCLUSIVE: C-Murder Issues Letter From Jail About Troubled Relationship With Brother Master P

C-Murder

Corey “C-Murder” Miller is currently serving a life sentence at the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola for the murder of 16-year-old Steven Thomas. Miller was convicted of the crime in 2009, but the former No Limit Records artist has maintained he is innocent and has repeatedly appealed the verdict.

-

While C awaits the outcome of the latest challenge to his conviction, he has also suffered through a falling out with his brother Percy “Master P” Miller. The platinum selling rapper recently released the Master P diss track “All I Wanted 2 Be Was A Soldier.”

The song featured C-Murder calling P “unloyal.” C further expresses his thoughts on his relationship with his older brother in an exclusive letter sent to AllHipHop.com.

Read C-Murder’s letter addressing Master P:

“All I wanted to be was a soldier, like P”

We all must learn lessons before dying. My ultimate lesson was giving loyalty to those undeserving. Yes, I learned the hard way. Incarceration has opened my eyes to see deceit through pitch black darkness. I was taught and raised that your bloodline will be there through thick and thin. Even when the entire wicked world and fake friends condemn and abandon you at your darkest moments. And being in prison for life, means until you die. Until your heart stops beating and your body turns cold.

This is a time to come together and support, unconditionally. Not for finger-pointing and ridicule. Even as I truthfully and passionately claim my innocence, I’m forced to entertain the blasphemy and silly lies of the one I believed in and looked up to the most. Who not only betrayed me but turned his back on my kids. My three angels who keeps blood pumping from my heart, throughout my veins. My sincere message to you as you read this is: Trust no one but yourself. No-one deserves your total loyalty, a smile can be deceiving in many ways. Be your own leader. People change and you can never know someone’s TRU identity or agenda.

I will never change, break or fold. I will always be TRU. It’s my life, my way of thinking. My World!

If my last breath was to come this minute, I’ll be buried as a man among men. Loyal to a fault. But I will rest in peace. Feel Me?

I am smarter and much wiser now. Why? Because I have truly learned my “Lesson Before Dying”

These are the truest words I ever said.

C-Murder

C-Murder will go before another judge in November. Earlier this year, his lawyer filed a post-conviction relief application in the 24th Judicial District Court.

Attorney Rachel Conner is claiming C did not get a fair trial partly because a juror in the 2009 case has stated she and another juror where pressured by other jury members to vote for a guilty conviction.

The Miller team also alleges the trial judge forced the jury to reach a verdict after the 12 person panel originally was unable to come to a decision. The jury later came back with a 10-2 decision to convict. In the state of Louisiana, a 9-3 vote would have resulted in a mistrial.

C-Murder’s previous appeals have been denied.

XXL Bought Out By Townsquare Media, Magazine To Go Digital Only

XXL-Freshmen-2014

It appears long-running Hip Hop magazine XXL is joining VIBE in transferring from a print publication to digital only. The New York Post is reporting Townsquare Media is buying XXL from Harris Publications, and the October-November issue of the mag will be the final newsstand edition.

The new publishers have suggested printed versions of special issues may be released in the future. Unlike VIBE which is reportedly laying off employees, XXL is said to be looking to add 11 editorial and digital ad sales team jobs.

“We incubated something digitally, but the Townsquare people can take it to the next level with their digital expertise,” said Ben Harris, president of Harris Publications.

XXL‘s most popular issue is the annual Freshmen Class edition where 10-12 rising rappers/singers are chosen to represent the most buzz-worthy newcomers for that year. Past freshmen include Lupe Fiasco, Wale, Kid Cudi, J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T., Kendrick Lamar, Iggy Azalea, French Montana, Macklemore, Schoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul.

YG Talks Losing His Virginity, Getting Initiated Into The Bloods & His First Gun

YG1

West Coast representative YG took the time to look back at some of the monumental moments in his life.

Speaking with Vibe, the 24-year-old My Krazy Life album creator discussed the first time he had sex, getting initiated into his Bloods gang set, and receiving his first firearm.

-

On losing his virginity in 2004:

It took a minute to slide up in that thang, fa’sho. A n***a was trying to figure it out! [Laughs] It was somebody from around the way—I was low-key talking to her but she wasn’t my girl. I used to listen to Lloyd and Marques Houston back then, all that slow shit.

On being initiated in the Bloods in 2006:

You get jumped on by a certain amount of people for a certain amount of time. I gave my life up for this gangbang s**t. The moment you get put on you gotta bang the hood and be involved in gang activities. I’m not trying to say I sold my soul, but I dedicated my life to the set. You could end up dead or in jail for the rest of your life, you feel me?

On getting his first gun in 2006:

My best friend gave me my first gun. When I held it, I was like, “Ooh wee! This is real!”…I threw a party in a church hall, but n***as who we had problems with came. They walked up close and I pulled the hammer out on them like, “N***a, what’s happenin’?!” Up in the church! They backed back, like, “OK, fa’sho

EXCLUSIVE: Jay Pharoah Discusses Kanye West Phone Conversation & Meeting Jay Z (VIDEO)

JayPharoah

Jay Pharaoh has become one of the leading comedic voices in the country. Thanks to his impressions on Saturday Night Live of notable Hip Hop artists like Kanye West and Jay Z, Pharoah has skyrocketed to national stardom.

The 26-year-old Virginia native is now going from playing rappers on TV to officially becoming one.

-

Pharoah is set to drop his Resurrection mixtape next Tuesday, whiceh will be premiered on AllhipHop.com. In preparation for the release of the rap project, the YouTube sensation sat down with AllHipHop.com’s CEO Chuck Creekmur to discuss his relationship with the two emcees Pharoah is famous for imitating – Jay and Kanye.

Earlier this month Kanye used one of his infamous on-stage speeches to address Pharoah’s Yeezus impression at the MTV Video Music Awards. Ye told his concert audience he spoke to the comedian about his routine immediately after the VMAs.

“I called Jay Pharoah right after the MTV awards. I said, ‘I appreciate your show, but let me tell you about my story. Let me tell you about what I went through to get to that position’,” said Kanye. “I ain’t making it a ‘Black or White thing’ right now, but I’m telling you if you see a Black guy anywhere, he had to work 12 times as hard. So we ain’t gonna have no black comedians going onstage spoofing the people that’s working hard to open doors not only for Black people, but any creatives.”

Pharoah reveals exactly how that conversation with Kanye went. He also discusses the first time he met Jay Z and the one celebrity who has a problem with his impersonation.

Eric Bellinger Responds To Nicki Minaj Denying He Co-Produced “Anaconda”

Eric Bellinger - Nicki Minaj

Note to producers who want to work with Nicki Minaj, don’t speak about any music you work on with her before she does. Eric Bellinger learned that lesson recently when the singer-songwriter publicly discussed Nicki’s “Anaconda” prior to its release.

Bellinger stated that he worked with Polow da Don and Da Internz to craft the track, but Nicki apparently tweeted (then deleted), “There are only 2 producers on #Anaconda ~ Polow Da Don & Da Internz. No one else should be out here doing interviews about it. #ThirstyAss.”

That message from the Young Money rapper did not sit well with Bellinger. In an interview with XXL, he expressed his belief it was unfair for Nicki to deny his contribution to the hit song.

Bellinger said:

I’m never gonna try to take credit for something I didn’t do so for her to be angry that I spoke on it is one thing, but for her to try to take my credit away for being there from the night before ‘til the sunrise, I definitely don’t think that’s fair. I was upset at first but now I look at it like whatever’s meant to be will be. I’m not trippin’. I got so many other songs coming out, it’s like, OK cool, you wanna trip? God got me.

Jay Z Facing Lawsuit For Using The Word “Oh” On “Run This Town”

Jay Z2

Hip Hop superstar Jay Z, WB Music Corp, Warner-Tamerlane Publishing, Roc Nation, Atlantic and Roc-A-Fella Records are facing a copyright lawsuit for sampling the word “oh” on Jay’s hit record “Run This Town.”

The TufAmerica record label claims Hov illegally took the single syllable word from the track “Hook & Sling –  Part 1″ by Eddie Bo.

-

Jay Z is fighting back though. According to TechDirt.com, the Brooklyn emcee filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit earlier this month. Jay’s court papers read in part:

Plaintiffs entire, misguided copyright infringement lawsuit is based on an alleged “sample” of the most fleeting one-syllable word – “oh” – in defendants’ sound recording entitled, “Run This Town” performed by the artist Jay-Z. Plaintiff alleges that this single-word sample is derived from Plaintiffs musical composition entitled “Hook & Sling Part 1″  and the sound recording thereof.

Importantly, Plaintiff does not allege that any musical element of Plaintiffs Works was copied – only the spoken word “oh,” which appears just once in the introduction to Plaintiff’s Works at approximately the 3-second mark, lasts for a fraction of a second in Plaintiffs Recording and is not repeated.

Plaintiff apparently believes that it has a monopoly on the use of the word “oh” and that it can stop others from using this word in recorded form. Well-established copyright jurisprudence should allow this Court to disabuse Plaintiff of that notion. First, it is black letter law that words and short phrases are simply not protectable under the Copyright Act. Thus, Plaintiff cannot state a claim based on the alleged infringement of a generic lyric such as, “oh,” or the sound recording thereof, and Plaintiffs claims should be dismissed as a matter of law.

TufAmerica’s suit was filed in November of 2013. The company acquired the rights to “Hook & Sling” in 1996. “Run This Town” was released in 2009.

According to The Guardian, the label previously sued Kanye West over the same song. The track is apparently sampled on Ye’s “Lost in the World” off My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Wale Says He & Meek Mill Are Now “All Good” After Public Feud (AUDIO)

Wale1

Wale called The Russ Parr Morning Show to discuss his upcoming project The Album About Nothing. While speaking with the radio program’s co-hosts, Wale was asked about Maybach Music Group boss Rick Ross’ role in settling his recent social media spat with fellow MMG artist Meek Mill.

“[Ross] was high,” said Wale. “He gonna come in that joint smelling like a tree trunk. But that’s how he is though. He was just like, ‘Man, what? We ain’t talking bout this right now.’”

The DMV representative then expressed how it was unfortunate the two rappers got into that public argument two days before Meek went to jail. Wale says he has not had the chance to speak with Meek since he has been incarcerated, but they were able to connect through other people.

“I actually did a song with his cousin, his best friend,” revealed Wale. “And I even poked fun at Meek and me arguing on the record. It’s all good. I think he comes home in late September, so it’s all good on all sides.”

Robin Thicke Admits To Lying About Writing “Blurred Lines” & To Drug Use While Recording

Pharrell, T.I., Robin Thicke

What a difference a year makes. Last summer Robin Thicke was riding high off the success of his number one single “Blurred Lines.” This year the crooner has been constant tabloid fodder and his latest album Paula flopped.

Adding to his 2014 embarrassment, it has now been revealed that Thicke lied about taking credit for writing the biggest hit of his career.

The Hollywood Reporter obtained the transcripts from Thicke’s deposition in the lawsuit between the creators of “Blurred Lines” (Thicke, Pharrell Williams, & Clifford “T.I.” Harris) and Marvin Gaye’s family.

The Gaye’s have accused Thicke and his collaborators of stealing elements from the legendary performer’s “Got to Give It Up” for “Blurred Lines.” Thicke, Williams, and T.I. attempted to preempt a Gaye Family lawsuit by filing their own suit first.

During his testimony under oath, Thicke stated:

I was high on vicodin and alcohol when I showed up at the studio. So my recollection is when we made the song, I thought I wanted — I  — I wanted to be more involved than I actually was by the time, nine months later, it became a huge hit and I wanted credit. So I started kind of convincing myself that I was a little more part of it than I was and I — because I didn’t want him — I wanted some credit for this big hit. But the reality is, is that Pharrell had the beat and he wrote almost every single part of the song.

These statements are different from what Thicke said about his role in the making of “Blurred Lines” in the past. He told GQ in May 2013:

Pharrell and I were in the studio and I told him that one of my favorite songs of all time was Marvin Gaye’s ‘Got to Give It Up.’ I was like, “Damn, we should make something like that, something with that groove.” Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it.

Pharrell and I were in the studio and I told him that one of my favorite songs of all time was Marvin Gaye’s ‘Got to Give It Up’… Then he started playing a little something and we literally wrote the song in about a half hour and recorded it.”

Pharrell acknowledged during his testimony that he did write “Blurred Lines,” but gave Thicke a co-writing credit on the song because that is normal practice in the music business.

The Grammy-winning producer said:

You know, people are made to look like they have much more authorship in the situation than they actually do. So that’s where the embellishment comes in.

“He bit my three fingers, and the skin busted,” Mayweather stated in a post-fight interview. “From the eighth round to the end of the fight, my fingers were numb, so that’s why I was using my legs a lot more.”

Chris Brown

Chris Brown and Rihanna’s infamous 2009 Grammy night fight resulted in probation, eventual jail time and years of headlines. While talking with MTV, Brown lends some advice to Ray Rice, whom is in a similar situation Brown was back in 2009:

To Ray [Rice], or anybody else — because I’m not better than the next man — I can just say I’ve been down that road. I deal with situations and I’ve made my mistakes too, but it’s all about how you push forward and how you control yourself

Brown was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, insomnia and Post Traumatic Stress disorder back in February after completing 95 days of anger management therapy. According to Brown, he still communicates with his therapist twice and week:

I still talk to my therapist twice a week, and it helps me to…if I’m frustrated and I’m dealing with something, to vent and say what I’m going through so I can hear from an actual clinical person, ‘this is how you should react,’ or ‘it’s good to feel this way because feelings, emotions, and energy are supposed to come and go. It’s not supposed to stay there, you’re not supposed to keep it inside, because it’ll bottle up and you’ll become a monster.

nicki-minaj

Color coordination almost had Nicki Minaj full frontal. During her recent interview on The Ellen Degeneres Show, the Young Money rapper explains what caused her near wardrobe malfunction at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.

On August 24th, Nicki Minaj almost sent viewers of the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards back to Super Bowl XXXVIII as she clung to a black dress while performing “Bang Bang” with Ariana Grande and Jessie J. Minaj explained to Degeneres she changed her original outfit backstage at the last second to match the black and white theme Jessie J and Ariana Grande displayed. Before stating that rushed wardrobe change led to her being “butt a*s naked” under the black dress, Minaj explains:

It was pitch black, I couldn’t see anything and right before it was time for me to walk out they went to zip it up and … nothing. And right there I thought I died.

Pharrell Williams & Shay Haley Hint New N.E.R.D Music Is Coming

N.E.R.D.

NME reports Pharrell could be reconnecting with his band mates Chad Hugo and Shay Haley for another run as N.E.R.D.

“It feels good to be back in London. When we released our first album back in 2001 and first crossed the Atlantic, this was the first place to embrace us,” said Haley. “You’re gonna like this s**t we’re gonna release.”

N.E.R.D has dropped four albums. Their last LP was 2010’s Nothing. The trio’s most well-known song is perhaps “Everyone Nose (All The Girls Standing In The Line For The Bathroom)” from the Seeing Sounds album. The track’s remix featured Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Pusha T.

Chris Rock’s Jay Z and Kanye West Co-Produced Film To Hit Theaters

Johnny Nunez

Watch The Movie. Paramount Pictures has attained distribution rights for the Jay Z and Kanye West co-produced film Top Five which is directed, written and stars Chris Rock.

In Top Five, Chris Rock plays a comedian-turned-film star named Andre Allen whose encounter with a journalist played by Rosario Dawson forces him to recollect on his past life as a comedian. The film takes place in one 24 hour time frame, which Rock told Variety is similar to TV shows such Louis C.K.’s Louie and Larry David’s Curb Your Enthusiasm:

Louis C.K. is one of my good friends. I watch his show. I watch ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm.’ No one has done a movie like this. Just a movie about a comedian, a day in the life.

The film features appearances from Tracy Morgan, Kevin Hart, J.B Smoove, Cedric the Entertainer and a bevvy of other famous comedians. Rock informed Vulture that spectators will be surprised at Jerry Seinfeld’s performance in the movie:

I think people are going to be surprised with Jerry. I think that’s going to be the big shock of the movie. I mean, it’s Jerry Seinfeld in an R-rated movie, so it’s kind of like a special effect in itself. He did a little bit of it on Louie this year, where you see mean Jerry, you see realistic Jerry, kind-of-dramatic Jerry. I think Jerry’s going to surprise everybody. Everybody’s really good, but I think Jerry’s going to be like, “Wow! Never thought I’d see that.”

Questlove has also been tapped to act as the music director of the film. Rock premiered Top Five for the first time last Saturday (September 6th) at the Toronto Film Festival.

There is no word yet on when Paramount plans to release the film domestically and abroad.

On his song “Bury Me A G” from his second major label album The Inspiration, Jeezy rapped “four shots to the chest, my n*ggas get at me/They don’ fucked around and f*cked up my new white tee”. In his Billboard interview, the CTE boss explained how those lyrics were ripped straight from his nightmares:

It’s crazy you said that because if you listen to “Bury Me A G” that’s those nightmares I was having. At that point in time I was like, ‘These ni–as are either gonna kill me or I’m going to kill them.’ That’s how I was living cause I would go places like, if you listen to those lyrics I’m talking about me being out in a club and me running into somebody who maybe it might not go right and them shooting me in my white tee.

In a music genre predicated on youth and constant turnover of trends such as is with Hip Hop, Jeezy has accomplished the seemingly insurmountable feat of maintaining relevance. If you ask Jeezy, no matter profession he chose, that hustler ambition would be intact:

I talked to 50 Cent on the phone [years ago] and he said, “If I was still in the streets I’d be an enforcer.” He said, “If Jay-Z was in the streets, he’d still be a boss. What would you be?” Before I can answer he said, “Nah don’t answer, what would you be?” I’m a true hustler. I’m a true leader, that’s who I am.

Ray Rice’s Wife Defends Her Husband, Says Media Is Wrong For Releasing Elevator Assault Video

Ray Rice

Ride or die is the foundation of love and delusion. Earlier today (September 9th), Ray Rice’s wife, Janay Rice posted a message on her personal Instagram account defending her husband following the release of him assaulting her in a hotel elevator.

The initial security footage of Janay’s physical altercation with her husband surfaced in late February and only depicted her husband dragging her unconscious body out of the Atlantic City hotel Revel. Yesterday (September 8th), new footage emerged from inside the elevator which clearly showed Ray Rice striking his wife twice with closed fists, knocking her out. In her Instagram message, Janay accuses the media of releasing the new footage 7 months later in order to gain ratings:

To make us relive a moment in our lives that we regret everyday is a horrible thing. To take something away from the man I love that he has worked his a.. off for all his life just to gain ratings is horrific. THIS IS OUR LIFE!

Rice was released from the Baltimore Ravens hours and suspended from the NFL indefinitely yesterday after the footage was released. Janay reassures Ravens fans that the Rice family still has love for them:

Just know we will continue to grow & show the world what real love is! Ravensnation we love you.

The NFL responded to the footage claiming they were not privy to the assault video from inside the elevator since “security for Atlantic City casinos is handled by the New Jersey State Police” and the video was not made available. The New Jersey State Police claim they never had the video and the Atlantic City Police Department handled it.

Rick Ross: Meek Mill’s Album WILL Be Pushed Back

Rick Ross and Meek Mill - Hot 97 Summer Jam 2012

Dreams are worth more than money and a successful album is worth more than meeting a release schedule. Today (September 8th), Rick Ross addressed changes to Meek Mill’s Dreams Worth More Than Money album for the first time since Meek’s incarceration in late July.

Last week, an Atlantic Records rep informed AllHipHop that a new release date for Meek Mill’s sophomore album was not determined. In a statement released to MTV, Ross reasoned that Meek’s album deserves a proper marketing roll out:

MMG and Meek Mill have decided to release Dreams Worth More Than Money at a future date. In true MMG fashion, Meek has dedicated himself to perfecting his sophomore project and it is only right that it should be rolled out exceptionally well. MMG also wants his fans to know that Meek is doing great and he wants to hear from you. So write him at.

Wiz Khalifa Talks Being Forcibly Pulled Over By Police, Mike Brown Shooting + MORE (VIDEO)

Wiz Khalifa

Wiz Khalifa still has love for the police even if they like to put a gun to his head. During a recent interview, the Blacc Hollywood MC spoke on his constant run-ins with the law, the Mike Brown shooting and more.

A warrant for Wiz Khalifa’s arrest was issued on August 6th when he failed to appear at a court hearing regarding his May arrest over marijuana possession in El Paso, TX. According to Wiz in his interview with 106 FM KMEL, the 27 year old MC says he’s been dealing with improper polic attention for over a decade, at least:

I’ve been driving since I was 16, I never got pulled over one time without having a gun to my head. They always pull me over and say, ‘Get out the car. What are you doing?’ Yanking me out the car. So I know how rough it could be and how you have to be not giving them any type of funk or they’ll do what they have to do. A lot of kids don’t know it’s that real out here.

Khalifa has smoked himself to Zen and even though he admits to having horrible experiences with police he admits that he does not hate cops. On his Curren$y-featured Blacc Hollywood song “House on the Hills”, Wiz addresses the racially biased coverage of his career. When the topic turned to the Mike Brown shooting, Wiz hoped that his song and other artists will help raise awareness of the grave reality an increasing number of young Black males face with the police:

French Montana, Kanye West, Rick Ross & Diddy Accused Of Stealing “Gucci Mane” Song

French-Kanye

The Kanye West-produced track “Gucci Mane” by French Montana is not even out yet and someone is already claiming it is a rip-off of their own music. Atlanta rapper 9Gotti is accusing West, along with Montana’s label heads Diddy and Rick Ross, of stealing his song.

According to TMZ, 9Gotti’s label Chinga Chang Records contacted Kanye, Diddy, and Ross in attempt to prevent French’s version from even being released.

The site reports:

The record label sent a cease and desist letter that’s pretty comical … saying the ripoff may have been a “drunken oversight.” It also takes a shot at Diddy — accusing him of being a music thief — and says Rick Ross should know better because he’s an ex-correctional officer.

French revealed during an interview with Power 106 last month that he did have a song called “Gucci Mane” that features Ross and Lil Wayne. He also acknowledged the Mac & Cheese single was produced by Kanye along with The Mekanics.

EXCLUSIVE: Miami’s Denzel Curry Responds To Trick Daddy’s Comments + Reveals Upcoming Double EP

Denzel curry-46

(AllHipHop News) Denzel Curry was one of the rising rappers highlighted in the recent documentary The Field: Miami. The 53-minute film featured numerous South Florida artists sharing their thoughts about the “real Miami” and its Hip Hop scene.

But it was one of Curry’s statements about his hometown’s support for its own that garnered a reply from the self-proclaimed “Mayor of Dade County” Trick Daddy.

“They don’t f**k with us like that,” said Curry in The Field about some of MIA’s rapping old heads. “Certain people that I can say that f**k with us, but at the same time we don’t ask them for s**t.”

In an interview with AllHipHop.com, Trick Daddy expressed, as a Miami rap veteran, he does not feel obligated to back every up-and-coming rapper from the city. The Thugs Are Us album creator said, “When you say, ‘support the rap artists,’ everybody that wants to be a rapper, I’m supposed to support it? Even if I feel like he can’t rap? What if I feel like his songs are wack? Even if I feel like his jeans are too tight?”

Curry got wind of Trick’s response and wanted to set the record straight on exactly what he was attempting to get across during his segment in The Field. The 19-year-old Carol City native claims his intent was not to disrespect his musical predecessors.

“I wasn’t trying to offend nobody. I just basically told it how it was on my end. The people I grew up with, the people in our generation, we pretty much ended up doing stuff ourselves. Some had help from the OGs like Trick Daddy was helping out [Ice 'Billion'] Berg, but when we grew older we didn’t have that same support. The only people who were supporting were the people in the underground with us,” explains Curry. “I understand where Trick is coming from saying he can’t support all rappers that are in the South Florida area, because if he don’t like something he’s not going to support. But at least acknowledge it. Let them know that you’re watching.”

In a very short amount of time, Curry was able to grind his way to considerable attention online. He released several mixtapes and the well received 2013 album Nostalgic 64.

According to the former Raider Klan associate, his early success was the result of he and his L&E x C9 ‎brethren making waves off their own merits. He further clarifies that was the only point he was attempting to make in the movie.

“I understand how the support system is. I just basically felt like, ‘Yo, we did it ourselves. We didn’t have to go to the OGs.’ I’m not saying it was their fault or our fault. It’s just we did it on our own. We didn’t ask them for help,” says Curry. “I didn’t mean no type of malice. I was just expressing how I was feeling. [The filmmakers] were asking questions about South Florida, and I just told them what was up. The fact that [Trick Daddy] acknowledged now is cool. It shows they’re watching us.”

Up next for Curry are music videos for “Ice Age” and “Zone 3” as well as the C9 compilation mixtape. He is also working on the double EP 32ZEL/Planet Shrooms. Those deeply personal projects are being created in the memory of his brother Treon who was killed in February of this year while in police custody and his close friend Tiarra who was gunned down last year.

“One half sounds like it’s for the masses. The other half is for the underground. 32ZEL is dedicated to my brother, and Planet Shrooms is dedicated to Tiarra,” says Curry. “[On these projects] I can express how I feel about everything. About the world, about jealousy – just crazy stuff. I feel like if [Treon and Tiarra] were still alive, and I presented both of these projects to them, they would love it.”

G-Unit Talks Young Buck’s Tax Problems, Missy Elliott Sleeping With Olivia + MORE

G-Unit

Do not let the name fool you, 50 Cent wants all his money back when he loans it..family or not. In a recent interview with Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, G-Unit spoke on Young Buck’s prior tax problems, Missy Elliott and Olivia having a sexual relationship and more.

In a July 2012 interview with XXL, Young Buck admitted to having no knowledge of how to pay taxes during his intial run with G-Unit. In the XXL interview Buck stated “I went out and done all these things not knowing that once you make a half a million dollars it’s really 250 ’cause Uncle Sam gets the other half.” In the Breakfast Club interview, Yayo corroborates Buck’s story:

The thing is, you dont have to pay that year. You in a different tax bracket now. So, you paying two years later. Damn, I done spent 200 [thousand] and I owe them [$125,000] and by that time you like ‘Am I making money right now or not?’

Olivia was released from G-Unit in 2007, three years after being signed. Earlier this year, Olivia appeared on The Breakfast Club and stated that 50 Cent was angry “because I wasn’t really at the crib doing a whole bunch of music with the Unit but he heard all the records I did with Miss so he felt some type of way.” 50 does admit that Olivia’s relationship with Missy contributed to her departure, but for different reasons:

I didn’t have no problems. Missy started hitting it, if you really want to know. See, it’s [Olivia's] fault for actually saying that to you. [Angela Yee- "Olivia said that's not true"] Trust me.

The Virginia singer is quoted as saying:

I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure… I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is. No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone. No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments in my life but all of the moments that will make up my life.

CB recently pled guilty in the misdemeanor assault case in Washington, DC. He was sentenced to time served.

Brown’s sixth studio album X is scheduled for release on September 16. The project features the singles “Loyal” and “New Flame.”

Floyd Mayweather Jr’s Ex Sues, Accuses Him Of Holding Her At Gunpoint + MORE (VIDEO)

Shantel-Jackson

Marcos Maidana just became the second most important battle Floyd Mayweather Jr will have to face in the near future. Earlier today (September 4th), Mayweahter Jr’s ex-fiance, Shantel Jackson is suing the boxer for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy, assault, battery and a number of other charges.

According to Jackson’s suit, Mayweather Jr physically assaulted her first back in 2012 by twisting her arm, choking her and forcibly removing her phone from her hand. The following year in April is allegedly when the second incident took place which involved Mayweather Jr. pointing a gun at Jackson’s toes and asking “Which toe do you want me to shoot?'” The suit also alleges that Maywewather Jr held Jackson at gunpoint when having her remove her engagement ring.

The suit’s defamation, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress charges are more than likely tied to Mayweather Jr’s posting of her abortion documents on his personal Instagram account on May 1st. At the time, Mayweather Jr alleged Jackson hid her abortion of their child by lying about a having a miscarriage.

Kendrick Lamar Facing $1 Million Lawsuit Over “Rigamortis” Song

Kendrick Lamar

Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80 was the breakout project for the West Coast superstar, and one of the standout tracks from the album was the Willie B and Sounwave produced cut “Rigamortis.”

According to TMZ, jazz musicians Eric Reed and Willie Jones III are claiming “Rigamortis” is a rip off of their “The Thorn” released in 2010. The pair have filed a lawsuit against Kendrick stating the TDE rapper never credited them or paid them for their music. Reed and Jones are seeking $1 million, any profits from the sale of the song, and all rights to the song.

Jones played drums and Reed played piano for the 1990’s band the Black Note. Both performers have released work as solo artists as well. “The Thorn” appeared on Jones’ 8-track album The Next Phase.

EXCLUSIVE: Jim Jones Talks Taking “Vamp Naps”, Working With WakeUpNow + MORE (VIDEO)

Screen Shot 2014-09-02 at 5.16.43 PM

Jim Jones started his record label and movement Vampire Life on Halloween 2011 with the release of his mixtape  Vampire Life: We Own the Night. According to Jim, the term that has now spawned a full on marketing campaign started due to Jim’s similarities to the mythological creatures:

I’m a vampire. I drive fly cars. I live in nicehomes and we keep pretty ladies aroudn us. When you look at the vampire movies that’s pretty much what they do. I get a vamp nap in. I don’t know why people don’t think vampires don’t sleep. Look at a vampire movie. They sleep, everyday. Come out, every night. Motherf*cker.

Back in 2006, Jim Jones was given the title of President of A&R at Warner Brothers Records. In a 2009 video interview entitled “This Is Jim Jones” Jones stated he used the position as a “total promotional tool for the three years I was signed to them.” After being fired for poor performance five years ago, Jim admits in our interview that his immaturity played a factor in his dismissal.

Back in April, Jim Jones joined the Wake Up Now team to help inspire people to be “independent business owners.”  Jim admits that he doesnt “really know the whole scheme of things” and simply joined the company to help the people of his community:

I don’t know what exactly what the whole thing is about. I know people in my community started doing it and said they needed some leadership. The notoriety of what I do could actually help them. It’s not hurting me none and it can make me a dollar. I more or less did it for my comrades than for myself.

Check out the SECOND PART of our EXCLUSIVE interview with Jim Jones as he talks about his time as President of A&R at Warner Music Group, taking “vamp naps” and more below:

Jeezy Explains What Took So Long To Post Bail, Comapres Being A Rapper To Being Malcolm X + MORE

Jeezy Bail

Jeezy is a thug motivator, Mr. 17.5 and a civil rights leader..in his own right. In his first interview since his prison release, Jeezy speaks on why his bail posting took so long, why he does not want his son being a rapper and more.

Jeezy was arrested on August 24th over gun possession charges and did no post his $1 million bail until four days later on August 28th. While Jeezy states that he is “100% sure” he will be exonerated of the gun charges, he explains to The Breakfast Club earlier today (September 2nd) he could have been released the same night he was arrested, however five of his associates would still be incarcerated:

I’m a real one and whatever happened. They detained two of my bus drivers. One of which was a 50-something year old lady. My cameraman or whatever. I’m such a real person and I know we were there in the right. I felt I couldn’t leave them there. When I stepped in the door, I had bailsmen right there.  I just made it clear that when I leave, we leave together. Point blank period.

Back in September 2012, Jeezy allegedly threatened to kill his son and assaulted him. Jeezy turned himself in to false imprisonment and battery charges on January 3rd, 2014 and during his interview with The Breakfast Club earlier today explains that the argument stemmed from stern guidance from Jeezy on his son’s career choices:

My whole thing with my son is he wants to be a rapper. I just wanted him to  know like ‘this is not for no chain or no rolex or no car, because I had this all before. If you ain’t willing to lay down and die for this then I don’t think you should be in it. This is no different than being in a Martin Luther King situation or Malcolm X. When you say these words, you got to stand on them. ‘
